“Some of the most hauntingly beautiful and spiritually profound chamber music of the last decade”
– All About Jazz on Clogs
“How can we break out of the box? We want the challenges and the range that we’ve come to expect from classical music, but we also want a lot of the energy and the excitement that typically comes from NOT classical music.” – Diane Berkun, Brooklyn Youth Chorus Artistic Director and Founder
The Brooklyn Youth Chorus, heralded as “a polished ensemble of miniature professionals” (New York Times), joins the legendary chamber/rock quartet, Clogs for an evening of new works by Bryce Dessner (The National) and Padma Newsome for chorus, for Clogs and for the two groups together.
New work by Bryce Dessner commissioned by St Ann’s Warehouse, Kaufman Center, and Manhattan New Music Project. New work by Padma Newsome commissioned by Kaufman Center and Manhattan New Music Project.
This performance is made possible with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
